"It was once said that the moral test of Government is how that Government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped."
— Hubert H. Humphrey

The Burlington Footnotes Senior Performing Troupe on April 12th entertained the Caledonia Senior Support Group at the St. Andrew’s Hall as part of a Volunteer Appreciation afternoon. About 60 senior Caledonians were honoured. In 2007, they gave 9,000 volunteer hours to caring for seniors in their community (Meals on Wheels, transportation to medical appointments, etc.)
Under Ruth Urbasik's direction, a select cast of 26 performers put their time and talents into entertaining the volunteers. The cast sang and danced 17 numbers. The Whimsey's, a dancing-clown group, added humour to the enjoyable afternoon show. Bob Urbasik served as MC.
The volunteers were a wonderful audience, responding to all the performers and letting them know how much they enjoyed the show, and, that they hoped to have the Footnotes back next year.

Ruth Urbasik arranged for a group from the Burlington Footnotes Senior Troupe to perform this week at the Burlington Seniors' Centre Fun Night on Monday Feb 11 and at the Grimsby Seniors’ Centre Valentine Luncheon on Tuesday, Feb 12. Footnote members have performed at the Burlington Centre many times, but this was a first time at Grimsby. The large audience at the luncheon loved the show and gave the group enthusiastic applause.

The Burlington Footnotes Senior Performing Troupe on November 29th entertained the residents of Hampton Terrace Care Centre. Besides the residents, many members of their families and friends and the staff attended the performance. The Troupe's reputation for bringing tap and lyrical dancers, singers, cloggers and clowns with high energy and dazzling costumes preceded them.
Hampton Terrace Care Centre, a Long Term Care Facility located at 75 Plains Road West in Burlington, serves the communities of Halton. Hampton Terrace Care Centre has about 100 residents.
The Burlington RWTO (Retired Women Teachers of Ontario) hosted a luncheon for the five area RWTO groups (Penta) on Nov. 8, 2007 at Burlington Convention Centre. 260 retirees from around the province attended.
The Burlington Footnotes Senior Performing Troupe was the featured entertainment. Thirteen members of the Troupe performed a scaled down version of last June's full-cast performance of "Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance" show. Butch Rogers acted as MC for the one-hour show, which included two male ballad singers, lyrical and clogging duets, solo tap, musical comedy numbers and the Footnotes tap and jazz groups.
One of the five RWTO groups asked if the Burlington Footnotes community show team would perform at their next function: a mark of a well received performance.
The residents and staff at Idlewyld Manor Nursing Home smiled and clapped to the rhythm and beat of the singers and dancers and laughed at the antics of the clowns. On October 25, 2007, fourteen members of the Burlington Footnotes Senior Performing Troupe put on another community show.
